Create an ACA Test File

ACA Test File 

AN AIR (ACA Information Returns) XML File is required for the ACA communication test. A communication test with the IRS is required before employee and company ACA forms are filed through an AIR Submission for the first time. 

Important A TCC (Transmission Control Code) is required to create the communication test file. You must register with the IRS AIR Submission service to receive your company TCC code. 

Generate an AIR Test File 

The Affordable Care Act Health Coverage Information Returns (AIR) presents a unique set of reporting requirements to employers. 


Navigation: Menu > Team > HR > ACA > ACA Year End Processing 

  1. From the ACA Year End Processing page, select the View ACA Company Tax Year icon for the applicable year and company to create the file.
  2. Locate and select the Generate AIR Files step in the year end processing checklist. 
  3. Select Form 1094-C for AIR. 

    Note: Do not select any forms 1094-C or 1095-C

  4. Select TCC and Software ID and enter the values for your TCC code and transmitter name. 

  5. Select OK to save the information. 

  6. Select Generate XML. 

  7. Follow your browser prompts to save the zip file to your computer.
