Availability and Preferences 

Availability and Preferences are a part of the configuration of Scheduler and indicate when an employee is available to work and if they have any preferences for when they would like to work. 


While assigning shifts, scheduling managers must consider when the employees are available to work. In the Scheduler solution, this information can be entered as availability, which is a hard constraint on when an employee is or cannot work. Shifts cannot be assigned when employees are not available. Preferences, on the other hand, help the scheduling manager and the system assign preferred shifts, but shifts can still be assigned outside of that preferred time. 


Edit Schedule Availability 

Companies may allow employees to view or modify their schedule availability and preferences. 


Navigation: Menu > My Info > My Schedule > Availability/Preferences 

  1. From the Availability/Preferences calendar, select date(s) to modify. The checkbox next to the weekday can be used for a quick selection for recurring availability. 
  2. Select the desired availability or preference type. 
  3. Enter the timeframe, if applicable. 
  4. Select Save. 
  5. If the company requires schedule availability changes to be approved by a manager, enter an optional comment, and select Submit. 
  6. The request is sent for approval. If the company does not require approval for changes to availability, the change takes effect immediately. Changes to preferences do not require approval.
