Request to Fill an Open Shift

 


Open Shifts 

Open shifts are shifts on a schedule that are not assigned to an employee. 


Open shifts include information such as scheduled cost center, skill, date, and start and end time, but they do not yet have an assigned employee. Open shifts may be auto assigned using the scheduling engine if they do not violate configured constraints. The scheduling manager may also manually assign these shifts or make them available for employees to request. 


Request to Fill an Open Shift 

The scheduling manager may post open shifts to be picked up by qualified and available employees. A request to pick up an open shift is done using an Open Shift Request. 


Navigation: Menu > My Info > My Schedule > Schedule 

  1. Adjust the date range settings to display the appropriate shift. 
  2. Dates with available open shifts are marked by the Manage Open Shifts icon. Select the Manage Open Shifts icon to display available shifts for the date. 
  3. Select the open shift you wish to request. 
  4. Select Submit. A request is sent to the scheduling manager for approval. 
  5. A status alert displays regarding the request until it is approved or rejected. The next to the alert can be used to cancel the request at any point before it is approved.
