Search Shortcuts

Modified on Wed, 3 May, 2023 at 12:27 PM

The System Menu Search feature allows direct navigation to specific areas within the solution.

Depending on the query entered, the returned options can be specific to the desired menu item. In addition to entering the basic query, dates, and including special characters such as # and % in the search entry provide shortcuts to specific types of results.

Search by Menu Item Path

The System Menu Search feature queries the entire menu path when returning potential pages to navigate to in a search.

Search results account for the menu item's path in addition to the menu item itself. For example, a search of "schedule" returns items with "schedule" in the title, such as Work Schedule and Scheduled Event. In addition, the search returns items with "schedule" in the navigation path such as Workday Breakdown Templates and Call Lists.

Navigate Directly to an Employee's Timesheet

There are two search shortcuts available for use in the System Menu Search feature that navigate to a specific timesheet for an employee.

Curent Timesheet: Type # in front of the employee's name to return the employee's current timesheet. Ex. #Amy Decker

Date-Specific Timesheet: Type the desired date in front of the employee's name to return the employee's timesheet for the specific pay period. Ex. mm/dd/yyyy Amy Decker

Limit Search Results

The % character is a shortcut that limits the results returned in a query to employee and profile options.

Typing a string of text into the System Menu Search feature returns numerous menu, profile, report, and employee records.Include the % character in front of a string of text to return only employee and profile results. For example typing "%sta" returns results that have "sta" in their name, such as Stacy Jones, or profiles including Start/Stop.
