Lock the Pay Period When a pay period is locked, timesheets within that pay period can no longer be edited. A user locks a pay period once they validate the timesheet hours and make any necessary corrections. Locking a pay period ensures that the hours shown on the timesheets match what was synced or exported to the payroll application. Locking up the timesheets is also required to accrue time off hours for employees with hours-based accrual rules. Unlock the Pay Period Occasionally, edits need to be made to the timesheets. A manager or admin can unlock the pay period to make changes to the timesheets. This is usually done under special circumstances, such as when an employee reports an incorrect punch, or an employee forgot to report time off during the pay period. Complete the preceding steps in the Time Prep Checklist after making these changes and lock the pay period again. |
