Reason codes are client defined lists used for specific changes on an employee record. Reason codes are a great way to provide managers with predefined options to choose from for:
Job Change Reason Codes Job change reason codes are a way for your company to track the reason an employee changed jobs. A few reason codes are entered in the system automatically, but you can add new codes at anytime. Job Change Reason Codes are found under Admin > HR Setup > Job Change Reason Codes. The current Job Change Reason types include Demotion, New Hire, Promotion, Re-Hire, and Transfer. Select Add New to add a new job change reason code for your company. |

| Termination Reasons Creating predefined termination reasons in the system enables managers to have access to a list of reason codes to select from. This allows for a better reporting system and aids in analyzing your company's turnover. Termination Reason Codes are found under Admin > HR Setup > Termination Reasons. | |

| Base Compensation Reasons Creating predefined base compensation reasons in the system enables managers to have access to a list of reason codes to select from. These reasons refer to salary or hourly rate changes. You even have the option to make this field required. That way any time compensation changes for an employee, your company tracks why that change occurred. It is an annual review, a cost-of-living adjustment, or going from PT to FT. Base Compensation Reason Codes are found under Admin > Global Setup > Global List Definitions > Lookup List Definitions > Base Comp Reason Codes. |
