Add Timesheet Extra Buttons

Timesheet Extra Buttons

Timesheet Extra Buttons can be helpful for companies who have punch situations outside of the Attestation Profile defaults, but still want to capture Attestation.

Examples of these punch situations include:

  1. Employees should receive an Attestation prompt when they return from their lunch break.
  2. Employees may sometimes be on-call, which is not a scheduled shift.
  3. The company uses a separate scheduling feature outside of the application.
  4. Employees are prematurely prompted when they take a late break, which prevents them from receiving prompts later.
  5. Employees who work their first scheduled shift are prompted to attest that they took a meal break. If they clock into a new unscheduled shift afterwards, then they will not be prompted to attest that they took a meal break for the second shift.

Add Timesheet Extra Buttons

Extra Buttons for clocking in, clocking out, simple punch, and changing cost centers are added from the Timesheet Profiles list screen.

Step 1: View Buttons

To add a new Extra Timesheet Button, navigate to the Timesheet Profiles by going to Company Settings > Profiles/Policies > Timesheets. Next, select View Buttons.

Step 2: Add New

Select Add New.

Step 3: Name, Label, and Punch Type

Enter the new button's Name and Label, then select its punch Type. There are four Types:

  1. System Determines (simple punch)
  2. Punch In
  3. Punch Out
  4. Change CC

For this example, Punch Out is selected.

Step 4: Capture Attestation

The Capture Attestation checkbox within Punch Settings allows the created button to capture attestation. Since we only want an employee’s out punch to trigger an Attestation prompt, we will check this box.

To add an extra button and not have that button to trigger Attestation prompts, leave the Capture Attestation box unchecked.

Select Save.

Step 5: Edit Timesheet Profile

Return to the Timesheet Profiles screen and select a Timesheet Profile to edit.

Step 6: Enable Extra Button

In the Timesheet Punch Settings widget, enable the desired Extra Button and select Save.

Summary

The enabled Extra Button now displays on the timesheets of employees assigned to that Timesheet Profile.

Extra Buttons Best Practice

When configuring and enabling Extra Buttons, it is recommended to disable the corresponding standard punch button for Show Simple Punch, Show Punch IN, and Show Punch OUT.

If the checkboxes beside those standard punch buttons are enabled at the same time as the Extra Buttons checkboxes, then two buttons of the same functionality display on the employee’s timesheet. Employees might select the incorrect button for their punch, which may result in duplication.

Mobile Preferences

Extra Buttons must also be enabled in the Security Profile within Mobile Preferences if they will be used from mobile devices.
