What is Attestation?
Attestation: Confirmation that information is true or accurate. To “attest” to something means to confirm that it is true or accurate. To the best of a person’s knowledge, the information presented is correct. They are validating this information by attesting to it.

Many companies require employees to attest that they are complying with regulations and company policies. These companies want to be sure that their business is complying with state and federal regulations and to ensure that their employees are complying with company policies.

The Attestation solution prompts employees to confirm information accuracy when punching and submitting timesheets. Employees are asked to confirm a variety of criteria when they punch in, punch out, or submit their timesheets.

Why is Attestation Important?

Attestation can help companies remain in compliance with state and federal regulations. Failure to comply with state and federal regulations may have serious consequences, such as:

  1. Noncompliance lawsuits
  2. Reputation damages
  3. Union grievances
  4. Employee relations problems
  5. Audits by Department of Labor and other agencies

Attestation can also help companies monitor employee safety. For example:
  1. At the beginning of a shift, an employee can be prompted to answer questions about whether they have symptoms of an illness.
  2. When an employee clocks out for the day, they can be asked whether they suffered an on-the-job injury.

How does Attestation Work?

Attestation Process Overview

Attestation relies on employee punches to initiate workflows and display prompts

Step 1: Employee Action

An Attestation workflow begins when an employee punches in, punches out, or when they submit their timesheet.

Step 2: System Prompt

The employee receives a system-driven prompt asking them to attest to their meals, timesheet accuracy, and other items.

Step 3: Employee Response

The employee responds with yes or no to the question, enters any notes, and selects required Reason Codes. The response is documented.

Step 4: Pull Reports

Whether as a part of normal operating procedures, an audit, or an investigation into potential issues, the administrator can pull any necessary reports on Attestation data.

Summary

Attestation follows the below process:

  1. Employee Action
  2. System Prompt
  3. Employee Response
  4. Pull Reports
